A medical, pharmaceutical or academic congress isn't built the same way as a consumer trade fair. Deadlines change, access protocols change, and even the type of spaces you need to build changes. Here's what's usually different.
Tighter assembly deadlines
Many congresses are held at congress centres, hotels or auditoriums that aren't dedicated trade fair venues, and only free up the space one or two days before the event — sometimes less. This forces faster builds, where modular aluminium systems are usually the more practical option compared to custom woodwork.
Specific areas that don't exist at a trade fair
Scientific congresses usually need spaces that rarely appear at a product fair: scientific poster display areas, satellite symposium rooms within the lab's own stand, and information counters with space for printed and digital material.
Different access protocols
Since they're not always trade fair venues, each site has its own access rules, loading and unloading hours, and sometimes floor weight restrictions (especially in hotels and conference rooms with carpet or raised flooring). Health & safety documentation is still needed, but it has to be confirmed with the congress organiser, not a standard trade fair venue.
Reinforcement for congresses with several simultaneous stands
It's common for the same lab or company to need several stands built at different congresses that overlap on dates. In these cases, reinforcing the team with fitters by the day lets you cover several sites without expanding permanent staff.
