Alimentaria is one of the major events in Europe's agri-food industry, held at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona. If you're exhibiting, here's the essentials to start planning your stand.
The size of the fair
Alimentaria brings together thousands of agri-food companies from dozens of countries, spread across several halls at the Gran Via venue, organised into specialised sections by sector: meat, dairy, oil, ready meals, food technology and more. It's a biennial fair — it's not held every year, so it's worth factoring that in when planning ahead.
What to consider if you're exhibiting for the first time
- Book early. Being biennial and large, the best locations (corners, proximity to the most-visited sections) get booked well in advance.
- Think about tasting. If your stand includes a tasting or product sampling area, that shapes the design (water, electricity, refrigeration) from the very first sketch, not as a last-minute addition.
- The Gran Via venue is big. With seven halls, access and unloading logistics can vary quite a bit depending on which one you're assigned — it's worth confirming this early with the organiser.
Our work at Fira de Barcelona
We regularly work at both Fira de Barcelona venues — Gran Via and Montjuïc — with the same team and the same deadlines as at any other fair. If you need staff reinforcement just for the assembly days, we also offer staff for hire.
